A one-life diving game for iPhone
How to play
Your submarine floats upward on its own. Tap anywhere to fire the thrusters and dive. Thread the gaps and stay off the cave roof. That is the only surface that ends a run. The sandy floor is scenery; sinking into it is safe.
Your score is how far down you got, in metres. One life per dive.
There is a three-page how-to-play book inside the game, on the question mark on the dive briefing and in Settings. Its first page has a TRY ME button that flies your own boat, so you can feel the controls without spending a run.
The Hangar
The submarine button on the title screen opens the Hangar: every hull in the game on one shelf, 51 of them. Sixteen unlock by reaching a depth. Thirty-three are bought with anchors, which you earn by reaching a depth on any dive: SHALLOWS at 100 M, REEF at 200, TRENCH at 300, ABYSS at 400, HADAL at 600 and CHALLENGER at 800. You keep an anchor for every dive that reaches its depth, not just your best one.
Drawing your own
On the end of the Hangar shelf are five drawing slots. The first comes with the game; the other four are a single purchase.
Open a slot and tap the brush. You get the hull on a grid, twenty-seven colours, a brush, a fill bucket and an undo. Everything inside the submarine's outline is yours to paint, the lookout window included. Paint over it, redraw it, or leave the hull blank where it was. The outline itself, the periscope and the propeller stay as they are, because the outline is the shape the game measures your crashes against.
Tap the name at the top to rename it on the game's own keyboard: twelve characters, letters and digits. Saving equips what you drew. Your drawings and their names are yours alone, and are never shown to anyone else.
Common questions
Some submarines show "???" instead of how to unlock them.
That is intended. A couple of hulls are hidden and unlock by other means.
I bought something and got a new phone.
Open SHOP on the title screen and tap Restore. Purchases are tied to your Apple
Account rather than to a device, so this works on any phone signed in to the
same account. Restore is also on each purchase's own page.
My progress disappeared.
Your best depth, your anchors, your unlocked hulls, your settings and your
drawn submarines all sync to your own iCloud, so a new phone picks up where the
old one left off. Check that the phone is signed in to the same Apple Account
and that iCloud Drive is on. Purchases are separate and come back through
Restore, above.
The shop says a purchase is unavailable.
That normally means the device cannot reach the App Store. Check the connection
and reopen the shop.
I bought the extra drawing slots but still see four locked.
Tap Restore in the shop. If they are still locked after that, write to me with
the Apple Account email you bought with.
